The Singapore Red Cross has been working amongst the disadvantaged for over 65 years and quietly goes about doing a huge amount of good in the community. Steamship Trading is very proud to support the Singapore Red Cross through monthly donations and extends a huge thank you to customers for making this possible!
Whilst many people know of how the Singapore Red Cross responds to and prepares for civil emergencies and natural disasters, not everyone knows about the huge amount of assistance it gives to the vulnerable in Singapore. It provides a number of different services including :
- Providing a residential home and day activity centre for the disabled
- Running a blood donor recruitment programme
- Conducting first aid coverage at events as well as first aid training
- Providing transport for the elderly and disabled from low-income homes, allowing them to get to and from their healthcare facilities
- Providing food aid -‘Meals with Love’ – volunteers not only provide nutritious food but also listen to and advise families in need
- Providing ElderAid where volunteers visit and spend time with beneficiaries fortnightly and, where there are unmet needs, link them up with the relevant Red Cross humanitarian services
